John R. McCarvill
Director – Government Affairs

John McCarvill is Director of Government Affairs for Verizon New Jersey.  He is responsible for the daily interaction between the company and the various branches of the New Jersey state government.

McCarvill joined Verizon after three years with the Democratic Office of the New Jersey General Assembly where he served in a variety of capacities, including senior research associate to the Assembly Telecommunications and Utilities Committee.  While working for the General Assembly, he also staffed the Transportation Committee, as well as the Committee on Tourism and Wagering.

Prior to working for the General Assembly, McCarvill served as a Congressional Aide in the District Office of New Jersey Congressman Rush Holt.  His primary responsibility was to work with state and local officials to plan and carry out community awareness events.

McCarvill received a bachelor's degree in Political Science from The American University in Washington, D.C.  He is a member of the Mercer County Anglers Association and also serves on the planning committee for the New Jersey Utilities Association's Annual Charity Outing.
